We have two days until NaNoWriMo gets started. Today do something completely different in the spirit of Monty Python. Get your mind off of the 50K words you are about to write and go do something relaxing or fun. What are some of the things you like to do before NaNoWriMo?
If you are living in America, you probably feel totally beat down by all of the political news...take a break from it. A year ago, I quit reading the news and I've never been happier and better adjusted. Spend today on yourself. What are you interested in? If it is art, then take out some paint, pens, paper, etc...
If you are a crafty person, go find something to make or redesign. You will find that this will spark your creativity.
Try watching some funny movies or take in a scary movie marathon in time for Halloween. Run through the Netflix list and find something completely different than what you would usually watch.
Maybe you can decide on a meal that would be completely different that what you would usually eat. Try chopsticks or Thai food. You may find a new love or something to add to your writing project.
Try taking a walk outdoors even if you aren't the outdoors type. If you go on a walk with a friend, you can bounce ideas off of each other. This works great to get the creative juices flowing.
This is the last free weekend before NaNoWriMo...savor it. When Tuesday arrives, we will all be frantically typing words into our editors. It will start with anticipation but fifteen days in and many of us will be struggling for our second wind. We will be able to look back on this last weekend and think fondly of our free time spent doing something completely different.
