How are you spending the night before NaNoWriMo? It's almost here, kids! Everyone is positioned at the starting line, raring to go and here are some things to remember:
Pace yourself - Try the trusted 1667 per day approach. If you fall off the wagon for a day or two (or more), don't beat yourself up. Just get back in there and write - start fresh with a new day. Remember, some days the words will flow and others will be void all together.
If you get stuck head over to the NaNoWriMo forums for some help and support. Keep your writer's block resource list close by. Talk to yourself....it's okay, we know you aren't crazy...sometimes this is the best way to get ideas flowing.
Don't worry if the story you had in mind turns into something completely different. It is just meant to be...go with it. This is exactly what happened to me. It was my first year doing NaNo and I went the path of the planner. I had an impressive outline, character sketches, and even a synopsis! But, a few rebellious characters took a detour half-way through the month and I was left with a totally different story.
This year, I'm taking a plantser approach so I won't be so freaked out when my characters rebel again...I know they will. I'm ready!
None of us are writing alone and support is never far, so stand strong and good luck to everyone tomorrow.
